Dr. Leo Barnes Foundation

1. The applicant should be the child of a C.D.C. holder or the immediate blood relative or ward of the C.D.C holder who is solely dependent on the latter, or the C.D.C. holder himself. This applies even if the C.D.C. holder is deceased.

2. The applicant may be the child or immediate blood relative or ward of the C.D.C. holder who has directly contributed a donation to the Dr. Leo Barnes Foundation (LBF).

3. The applicant should have completed the Higher Secondary Certificate examination or its equivalent and should be applying for Graduation / Post Graduation course in any stream of education or diploma course in any stream of education recognised by the Govt. of India or the State Education Boards.

4. The applicant may apply for a technical or professional course which is recognised by the Indian Universities under the All India Technical Department or AICTE / NCTE / MCI / NAAC/ RCI and such others.

5. Applicants applying for courses to universities in other countries are also eligible.

Seamen’s Welfare

Dr. Leo Barnes Foundation

The Navik Manovikas Kendra (NMK) is a welfare organization that is primarily a counselling centre for seamen and their families. It focuses on:

A) Instituting studies to find out social, psychological and occupational problems of the seafaring community and their families.
B) Providing counselling, particularly in the matter of vocational guidance for the children.(Komalsparsh Psychological consultancy)
C) Providing necessary assistance in meeting the aspirations of the seamen and their children.



Scope of Consultancy:

The N.M.K. can be approached and consulted for problems and programmes of varied nature as stated below:

1) Vocational guidance and counselling for children.
2) Evaluation of intelligence, personality, interests and aptitudes.
3) Selecting, interviewing and screening men for seafaring profession.
4) Sex, marital and relationship counselling.
5) Stress management at workplace and personnel problems.
6) Family welfare programmes.
7) Psychotherapy for depression, drug addiction and any other.

Staff Details:

The Consultancy shall be conducted by experienced psychologist, counsellors and personnel at camps in various parts of India. It operates at three venues of Dr. Leo Barnes Foundation (LBF) offices in India, at Mumbai (022-2605 4658), Goa (0832- 2781167) & Mangalore (0824-2984658). Research Grants

Dr. Leo Barnes Foundation
Type of research:

The research should be confined to studies relating to seafarers preferably Indian, in the sociological, economic, medical, psychological, and legal or any other discipline. It may be a project submitted by a research scholar / institution or independently organized by the trust itself.

Grant Details:

The grants will be project based or on a yearly basis if the research extends to more than one year.

Applications to be made in the prescribed form obtainable from the office of the foundation, and submitted in duplicate. It will be scrutinised by a professional committee and if necessary by personal interview. The extent of grant to be given will be considered on the merits of the research.

The decision of the Chairperson of the trust will be final and will not be open to review or scrutiny.
